What is the BCSA Development League?
This is a league for teams to play in a smaller format while focusing on player development. Instead of playing 7v7 to 11v11, our league plays 3v3 to 5v5. Fewer players on the field means many more touches on the ball and more 1v1 confrontations. These elements will translate into more rapid player development.
How do I register and pay?
Coaches can register by following the link at the top of this page.
Where are the games played?
All games will be played at Field of Dreams (377 Creek Road, Delanco, NJ).
My team already plays in another league, can we still join this league?
Yes, this is a great supplemental league, and we’ve set our schedule so that our games will not conflict with the most common game schedule of the local leagues in our area. Also, with the smaller format, teams playing in other leagues should have an easier time fielding a team on a weekly basis.
Can any team register? / What if my team isn’t affiliated with a club?
Teams from any club, town, or state can register to play in our league. All players must have a valid player pass (USClub or NJYS) in order to play. Any team that needs help obtaining this can reach out to us, and we will be able to help.
What is the game format?
U4/U5 – 3v3 no GK’s; U6/U7 – 4v4 no GK’s; U8 – 4v4 no GK’s; U9 & Older – 5v5 with GK’s
Why aren’t teams playing “REAL SOCCER (11v11)”?
Our league is designed to allow players to have more opportunities for improving as a player. With a smaller field and less players, each individual player is involved more. As long as there is a field, a ball and goals we feel it is REAL SOCCER. We’ve designed the league for the benefit of the players as they work to improve their skills and knowledge of the game.
Will scores and standing be kept?
No standings will be kept. The sole purpose of this league is player development. Scores will be reported in order for the league to create competitive match-ups on a weekly basis.
Is there an additional “referee” fee?
We allow the coaches of U12 and below teams to manage their games to avoid extra referee fees.
U13 and older teams will have referees, and each team will pay $10 per week on the field to their referees.
